If you're learning to drive with us, your test will usually be at one of two centres — and it's natural to wonder how their pass rates compare. Here's an honest look at the numbers, and why they probably matter less than you think.
Which test centres serve our area
Most of our learners take their practical test at Norwich (Peachman Way) or Lowestoft (Mobbs Way), depending on where they're based. You can read more about each on our driving lessons in Norwich and driving lessons in Lowestoft pages.
What about the pass rates?
Across Great Britain, the average car practical test pass rate sits at roughly 48% — so on any given day, slightly fewer than half of candidates pass. Centre-by-centre figures move around from year to year and are published by the DVSA, so it's worth checking the latest numbers rather than relying on an old headline. More importantly, a centre's overall pass rate tells you very little about your own chances.
Why preparation matters more than the statistics
A test centre's percentage is an average across thousands of candidates of every ability — from people who were genuinely ready to people who booked too soon. Your result depends on you: how well you know the local routes, how calmly you handle nerves, and whether you've practised the manoeuvres and tricky junctions in the area.
That's why we focus on getting you genuinely ready for the roads around your test centre — the junctions, the speed changes and the manoeuvres examiners actually look at. Whether you test at Norwich or Lowestoft, preparation beats statistics every time.
